Honestly, haven't done either of these. I do have hopes to begin reading them sometime though! I enjoy short stories because they generally keep things quick and to the point for myself. So I believe that this would be right up my alley.

In the past, I used to enjoy books by R.L. Stine with many stories entailed. I even enjoyed the decision making books because they kept me engaged.

Other Nineteenth century classics worth reading are the short stories by Dino Buzzati, an Italian journalist and author. His style is an unique and brilliant balance between magic realism and the Italian literary surrealism of the early 1900s. Buzzati was inspired by his everyday life, by his work in Milan, by his hometown closed into the Italian Alps: he wrote about simple things, such as hospitals, towns, mothers, lovers, but the events are moved by out of the ordinary characters. The stories seem to be seen through a kaleidoscope.
Many of his works are translated in English, French and German. If you would like to read this amazing author I would suggest the English collections Catastrophe and other stories or Restless Nights: Selected Stories of Dino Buzzati. As a matter of short stories, excellent titles are
Seven Floors
The slaying of the dragon
The seven messengers
And yet they are knocking at your door
The saucer has landed
The bogeyman (It can also be found under the original title Il Colombre)

My experience with short fiction mainly comes from reading Jeffrey Archer's short story collections. I feel it's more challenging to write because you have to grab the reader's attention quickly and create a strong impact in a short span. What I’ve always loved about Archer’s stories is how he masterfully twists the plot, making each one so captivating.
