I have always loved this story! So glad it was posted. I liked being able to reference this when people start wishing too much :) When I was in 7th grade our teacher had us rewrite an ending to this story, answering that question of what was on the other side of the door. I believe I wrote about the grotesque figure of their son at the door, but I don't remember after all these years.

I've always loved this short story. The first time I read it, I was a bit younger and thought it was the creepiest story ever and now it seems to come off with a lot of adult themes that college students and adults go through daily.

'The Monkey's Paw' delves into the darkest depths of human desperation, where grief-stricken characters grasp at supernatural straws, only to unravel the fabric of their own reality. Each knock at the door reverberates with chilling anticipation, serving as a haunting reminder of the irreversible consequences of tampering with fate. As the story unfolds, it delivers a sobering message about the perilous pursuit of wishes and the inevitable price of meddling with forces beyond our comprehension.
