I have always loved this story! So glad it was posted. I liked being able to reference this when people start wishing too much When I was in 7th grade our teacher had us rewrite an ending to this story, answering that question of what was on the other side of the door. I believe I wrote about the grotesque figure of their son at the door, but I don't remember after all these years.

I've always loved this short story. The first time I read it, I was a bit younger and thought it was the creepiest story ever and now it seems to come off with a lot of adult themes that college students and adults go through daily.

I will never forget this one. The conclusion was certainly what freaked me out, especially since it was never really confirmed what or who had come to the door... It always leaves that hint of mystery that all great horror stories, long or short, have.
