Yes, especially when it is a place I would love to visit sometime in the future. The read may help me make a decision for or against the future visit.

Adventure is great but sometimes becomes expensive. To enjoy a lot you need a lot of preparation especially financially. seriously that is when you can enjoy because there are new places you have to touch.

Absolutely! A cool setting, whether real or completely fictional, makes the book even better!

Absolutely yes! Reading about places you have never been can be a wonderful way of "armchair traveling" and experiencing those venues vicariously through the characters in the story. As a young reader, I always enjoyed reading about life in the wilderness, as describes by Elizabeth George Speare in her young adult book The Sign of the Beaver.

Absolutely! I love finding out about new places to travel to. Sometimes it takes a book to even know that some places exist. Then, I start researching more about that area and see if it's somewhere I would like to visit one day.

I like reading books about different places. Being able to experience (at least through my imagination) how is it and what can be found in a new place being described is an amazing thing.

Most definitely! When I read a book taking place in Alaska, England, South Africa, or any other place I have not (yet?) visited--fiction or nonfiction--the story transports me to that place. If the book is well written and the characters, human or animal, are believable, it gives me a sense of actually being there. Even better, if the location is one that is possible to visit, reading about it might set a trip there in motion.

Well for people who don't have access to different places or a means of getting there, I think it's a wonderful way to just get away. Escapism is the word I'm looking for. Books like this can provide an escape from the stresses of daily life, which is much needed in my case. It's like going on my own mini vacation. It doesn't hurt when the story has an excellent plot and well-rounded characters too.

Yes. I like reading about new places. It's just like going on holiday from the comfort of your sofa.

I think reading about places I have never been is the only flight to the place. Yes I do enjoy much. I like the feeling of being lifted from your study desk in the Vision of different scenarios.

Of course. My favorite book that takes place in a foreign country is The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles. It is a truly singular sort of travel novel that I highly recommend to those visiting a place where they fear they might not be entirely at home. It also serves as a kind of warning.

Before I ever travel to a country I read literature from that country before I go. It is a wonderful way to start to know a place before you have ever even set foot on its soil. It also forces you to engage with that place and its people more meaningfully than you might otherwise do as a wandering tourist.

Reading about places I have never been to is the sure way of experiencing a place without setting foot there. When I read about a place I google it just to get a glimpse of what the place looks like.
