Music in Writing

I love the idea of blending these two artistic genres (writing and music).

Are there other books you've read that included music or musicians as a main focus that you really liked?

If not, why do you think this isn't a prominent topic in writing?

I find the blend of music with writing very refreshing as well as creative. Though not a novel but there is one another forum I am associated to where people write short stories on their favourite daily soaps. I read one story there including music with writing.

I also like the blend of music and literature. When I'm reading books, I mentally compose a playlist that fits them well. I feel like music and books will always be one of those things that will always blend well together.

This concept is very unique and refreshing to see among so many books that get lost in the mass. I feel like writers are focusing on what's ''in'' rather than writing something that's completely different. The idea of mixing music and writing is amazing to me as I'm interested in both. I'd love to read more books like that.

There's an urban fantasy, vampire series that relies heavily on 90's music.

WVMP Radio series, by Jeri Smith-Ready. In the mythology, vampires get "stuck" in whatever era they "died" in, so the station only plays 90's.

To this day it is one of the most unique mythologies I've found.

It's my first time to read this kind of book, so this is something unique to me. I really like the idea... interesting!

Cool! I liked that. It does sound unique. I added it to my list. :)

There are several books that I read but I cannot exactly recall the titles. I find the story interesting if I know the song but misleading if I do not know the song.

I think that there were a few lyrics in the time traveller's wife. I guess writers would run away from adding lyrics to their writing to avoid any possible plagiarism and copyright issues.

That's awesome! And the best part is that it's a finished series!

Not all stories need music to attain their objectives. The blending of music and a story works at times but not in all cases, but, I believe that every song has a story in it.

I love the mixture of writing and music, but in a limited way only so that it seems woven and not forced into the novel. Music helps understand and connect with the characters better, but too much of it in a book can get boring and frustrating.

I think it's really amazing to blend music and writing. I've read a few but they're mostly teen and YA books. One I particularly liked was on Wattpad and it was titled 'The Perfect Duet'. I wonder why people don't employ that method a lot. I hope I can try it some time.

I agree that nowadays, authors prefer to write about what is in or where they will get profit. It is disheartening to think that authors sometimes sacrefice the aesthetic sense of writing.

It's my first time to read a book that is blended music. I did not find it fascinating at all. I kept on turning the pages for the next chapter without reading the musical notes.
