Do you feel close to an author of your favorite book?

I feel close to an author if I can relate to his/her story. This is what this book, "Trip to Adele" did to me. I feel like I can still have more things to discuss with the authors. Do you feel close to an author of your favorite book or story?

Of course. The better the author, the more I can relate to his tale. I love it when an author is willing to answer questions and discuss his book with us.

For me, I don't think that's necessarily the case. I love a good story and good writing. However, it doesn't really make me feel close to the author. I do have an admiration for them, though.

Yes I find especially with my favorite poetic or prose writing I feel like I greatly relate to the author. Sylvia Plath is the most prominent writer that comes to mind.

I sort of felt the same way with My Trip To Adele. I thought a lot of the authors' thoughts and cultural perspectives came through in a way I really enjoyed and that made it feel like I could sit down and have a conversation with them.

Not really. But If I enjoy a book so much I always research the author on the web!

It is not very hard to feel close to an author when you read their book. An author always leaves traces of themselves in the book they write.

I don't necessarily feel close to any authors of books I enjoy. I feel close to the characters that they created.

If I read a book of an author that did a good job of expressing the characters, through their description of the characters in the book I feel like I almost know them. I enjoy the way authors express their feeling not directly but still present. By the end of a good book I truly feel as though I have gone through a journey with he author.

I'm a mix. If I just read a book, I usually can feel close to some of the characters, not necessarily the author. However, if the author is willing to answer questions about his/her book, then I definitely feel more of a connection to the author.

Yes, totally. I follow the author around on social media if I like the book too much. And then read all of the author's other works.

Yes, I do feel close to the author. Their book gives me an insight into their thoughts, their feelings and their writing style, all of which make me feel close to them.

I do. When a good book strikes a chord with me, it's apparent that the author has also thought about the themes or issues I have and we seem to have a conversation as I read the book as my thoughts and their thoughts are addressed and changes or refinement of opinion occur.

Absolutely, i feel so close to them like they are my best friends. Sadly my favourite author has died, i wish i could meet her and have a long conversation to hear what she has to say about many different topics.
