its not all the time that a connection is established because most of the time it depends on the writer's style of writing

Not always, but depending on the expression of the characters by the author, I get limited to choices and subscribe to closeness with the author.

Yes. I feel close to someone after I get to know them and authors' writings in fact tell a lot about them.

I feel close to the author every time I read the advises. I feel that the author is in front of me.

I don't feel closer to an author of my favorite book, I guess i just feel compelled to read more books by that author.

When I really enjoy a story, I tend to go out of my way to learn more about the author. I am a Terry Pratchett fan and have nearly all of his books in both audio and print. Reading his stories has taught me that he must have been an interesting thinker and funny gentleman.

I also enjoy reading interviews from my favorite authors. One such author I interviewed and asked about his favorite and least favorite things about writing and he said that he didn't enjoy doing interviews! In an interview! I was shocked and instead of thinking of it like I would have if Terry Pratchett wrote it, I took offense and haven't read anything of his since. It's not exactly on purpose but I will shy away from his if another author's work catches my eye! Definitely made me feel like I wasn't close to him, that's for sure.

Yes. The connection will always be there because something has been shared (the story).

It depends on how much I love the story and resonate with its characters.

I'm a picky and fickle reader. I chose only a few authors that touched my soul just reading from their book.

They talk as if they speaking to themselves, and I, a reader, was there to feel the gnawing sense of beautiful and twisted part of their soul.

Good writers write beautiful words. Great writers write to move people.

I do! And I will admit that I will google the author and read their bio. At times it inspires me.

Definitely. I usually come up with so many questions that I would ask them in case I met them.
“Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real.”

I feel like when you read a book, you read a very personal and hidden part of an author's life. When an author shares this with you, your experience brings you closer to the author. I'd love to actually meet my favorite authors and to discuss their books with them, though.

Oh yes. I think it's a good sign when you find yourself nodding to something that author has written or smiling because it just nails something so right.
