This is creating a rise in passive aggressive behavior. As people become frustrated with their real lives which is not as glamorous as their social media profiles.

I think it's just as much turning fallacies into truth as it is turning truth into fallacies. I never want to get rid of social media, but it does create a world where "alternative facts" can reign.

People definitely focus on a positive image in social media, instead of the truth of how things are. It can be all about impressing others/attracting a partner/out-doing someone else.

Social media is becoming the new reality. It is replacing real life. I agree with most of the above posts, it is sad that most people are increasingly taking to social media to leave their lives. This means they share the good, the, the ugly online. It is even sadder when the choose to leave a happy and positive lie online and experience sorrow in reality. It makes their lives harder and sadder. Sadly enough that's the reality of most of us today.

I think social media can be used to falsify reality and or ignore it. Online you can be anyone or anything you choose; that's why there are so many catfish stories of lonely people trying to make their lives more interesting through role play. I do see that some of my friends' lives seem perfect, but others post all their dark thoughts and get plenty of sympathy. I guess it just depends on the individual.

I think that people use social media for a lot of things. For some, creating the image they want the world to see is what social media is all about -- and they are probably pushed to do this by seeing all of the false images that others place out there in social media, as well.

I agree there are many citizens that cover their bad side. You will think they are doing alright if you talked with them, not knowing that they are dying from within themselves.

I am glad you pointed this out; I think that the authors made it a point to include the topic. People use social media platforms in order to portray an image, and it is often one that is much more positive than in reality. As we see with Yaser and Mariam, these social media posts are often just facades. It is important to remember this as an audience as well. Nobody is as perfect as they may seem.

Social media can be a good thing if used right. Memories and happy moments can be posted and stored on social media.
