Have you ever experienced such a thing in your life? Whereby someone reminds you of your Ex and then you find yourself uncontrollably thinking about the person?

There has been a couple of times when I think how different my life would have been had I still been in my previous relationship. So yes I do think about my ex.

Yes, sometimes a song or even a smell will remind me of an ex and I would briefly think about them. I don't long for them, I just go back to some memories, but then quickly remember why they are my ex! Over the years, it doesn't affect me as much why things didn't work out. Maybe as I learn more about myself with age, then I can see more clearly why I wouldn' go back to those relationships, instead of wondering if I could've done something to make it work.

Sure no person will fail to remember their ex not you not me, nobody, even UK prince William in 2012, during his wedding to princess Kate, invited his 4 ex girlfriends to his wedding. So in this case for Elias to be destracted by Veronica's question why he left his ex, surely, he's not the exception. Thanks for topic discussion.

I think this will depend on how your relationship with the said "Ex" ended. If there is no proper closure I guess you will just end up like Elias. Personally, I haven't experience anything like that. An Ex is an Ex. End of story.

No matter how bad the situation was before the person became an Ex, one would once in a while remember his or her Ex because in fact the memories you share with the person are reality. Thus sometimes one remembers the Ex without any special efforts.

It would be hard not to remember someone who was once a very significant part of your life, whether the memories are positive or negative.

Once in a while I do remember my ex.

When someone came to your life, you will remember others and forget somebody, too. When it comes to x-relationship, closure of relationship, it does not mean forgetting but praying that everything goes well in in your new relationship. It hurts but do not forget the lesson you learned, make it a stepping stone out of stumbling block.

I would say this is pretty common. There are places, smells, songs, that will bring up memories.

The environment you and your ex used to visit, the perfume, music, circumstances all act as a conditioned stimulus. You come across them and you will surely remember him/her.

I think people will always remember an Ex or Ex's mainly because that person, no matter how the relationship started or ended, they made an impact on your life. It could be a big thing or a small thing but the point is, that ex changed you or even made you who you are today.

I do think people will always remember someone that they cared about or loved, but I have not had that experience personally because I have never dated before. So I actually have no exes at the moment.

I totally agree. Experiences are what make you. And exes are part of that. I have one in particular that crosses my mind a lot, but not in a "i dont know why i left him" kind of way, but rather, i hope he is ok and has found someone else to love. So it's true.. once you care for someone, it's hard to stop.
