In marriage, it is a vice versa role. The wife must submit to the husband for the husband must always be the head of the family. The wife is there to help the husband, gives idea, and above all is to understand and love.

I don't think so. The most successful relationships I have seen are a marriage of partners.

I think a successful marriage comes with each person being equals. Each person must help the other out when needed. I don't think anyone needs to be submissive. That is not a word I would choose to use. It is a give and take of love.

I think equality is necessary for a healthy bond. Each spouse can have a particular role in the household without being in a submissive role. I also think it is important for any children to see both parents treating each other with respect.

I very much disagree with this. This is not the place to get into debates about sexism, however, so I will leave it at that.

To address the topic, I don't think Yaser needed to be submissive to Mariam to save the marriage. They need to strike a better balance between them to be happy. They were both miserable as it was.

I believe a happy marriage is one between equals. It is not so much about submitting as it is about striking a balance and adjustment!! To still believe that a wife must submit to the husband is primitive and sexist!

To be submissive is a must in marriage. It is a must for both parties. To be submissive is a sign of maturity.

I am afraid Yaser reversed the roles in relationships. A man's problem is not submission but loving, and a woman's problem is not loving but submission. When you love a woman she submits, and when a woman submits to a man, he loves her. It's a mutual exchange

Yes! A good partnership with the one you love lays the foundation for a successful marriage.

No. It's a never. Unless you have no respect for the other person or yourself depending on which of the roles floats your boat. I can elaborate but I choose not to.

Yes. Both partners have to be submissive to one another for it to work. The Bible in Ephesians 5:21 advises so.

Well, the Bible itself clearly spells it out that the woman should be submissive to the man and not the other way round. The man however has the duty to love the wife unconditionally. So if you ask me, I would say submission is very necessary in marriage, especially if you are a woman.

Yes, it is very crucial to be submissive in marriage. But the other party must reciprocate to make it complete.
