I think I'm broken right now. This is another book that I started and just didn't have a desire to finish. It wasn't bad. I just can't seem to finish it. I'm interested to see everyone else's opinions, though.

This isn't my favorite genre, not sure i can add much. But the review sounds great.

I reviewed The Expansion as well. I thought it was really too slow-paced to be a thriller, though the geopolitical stuff was interesting.

I read the sample. It Was Pretty good. however the official review said that the ending is a cliffhanger, so I'm not interested in finishing the book anymore.

I thought it was historical fiction, which I typically avoid because they're usually long and slow paced. If this is supposed to be a thriller, then the disappointment on the slow pace would be much more.

It isn't a genre that I usually read so it took me quite a while to get somewhat interested in it. If I were to give a completely biased rating, I would say 2 and that's only because I have no interest in this genre or about politics or canals. If I did have an interest, I would give it 3 stars.

I won't give it 4 because there were a lot of slow parts in the book and the plot was too slow -paced with not enough action or interesting moments.

Have you read the book? You shouldn't rate it if you didn't.

I got the book from a friend and read it in two sessions. I actually liked the slow buildup to an incredibly paced second half with many unexpected twists. I really did like it A LOT and would give it 4/4 - no doubt!

It had too slow of a build for me to enjoy it completely, but I liked the writing and plot. I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars.

It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one that thought it was slow. I think that's why I just didn't have an interest in continuing. I have to have something that grips me whether it be the plot or the characters. Nothing really gripped me here, though...

I though it was ok, not great. I agree the build up was slow, but the end of the book was too fast. I didn't like that 1.5 years went by in the middle of the book with no details or updates to what was going on with Max.

I read the book but also agree that it was too slow to continue. That combined with the fact that i am also not a fan of cliff hangers, which seems to be the consensus ending from reading the reviews, i couldn't complete the book. It didn'r capture me enough. So i'd give it a 2 out of 4.

Since everyone is saying that this book is dull, I do not have the desire to read it. What's worse is that it ends with a cliffhanger. No thanks, I'll pass.

I thought the story started off slow but as I got deeper into it, I found that I needed to find out what happens next. I enjoyed watching Karis have to fight off her feelings for Max in the line of duty, because it seems realistic to the situation. I did not like watching Godfredo deal with a father that is rather cruel but I do realize that was integral to the story. I would recommend it to people who like political and corruption stories as I can imagine people in real life going through similar motions as they deal with government corruption while conducting government businesses. It was also interesting to watch the various relationships between characters, as many seemed realistic as well.
