Yes I can't deny that they are distractingIzesicle wrote:Racy scenes are only acceptable in erotic fiction. Love scenes I tolerate in romance novels. Unless written very well, I find love scenes unnecessary and distracting.

yes depends upon writer's way of writing. and also on reader's tasteKalin Adi wrote:If the writer is good, he/she does not have to be so descriptive about gushy love scenes. The reader may get the idea and proceed with the story.

Well yes that is also rightButterscotchCherrie wrote:I much prefer love scenes which leave the reader to use their imagination to fill in the details. Less is more.

I agree. There are some authors who make use of the gushy love scenes to lengthen their story or to catch the attention of their readers even if the love scenes do not really fit the story.Kalin Adi wrote:If the writer is good, he/she does not have to be so descriptive about gushy love scenes. That is exactly what I think. If it is in a romance genre, it is not a problem but if it is a fantasy genre. It is very much off tangent.charlesjr2 wrote:I'm sorry if I have a different oppinion from everyone else, but I think that there is nothing wrong with racy scenes in a romance novel. Don't get me wrong tho, I totally understand why many of us don't like it very much.

I admit they have their place in some genres and/or plots, but I'm perfectly okay without them. I find them a little cheesy a lot of the time.
I concur with you both. There are moments that they fit in and it doesn't make it feel over the top, but I still feel like I would enjoyed the book just as much, or maybe more, without them!
