No, I’m not afraid of the sea itself. It’s breathtaking to watch and very interesting to study. But I’m afraid of swimming in it because I will really drown. Not the sea’s fault but only me and the fact that I can’t swim. Ialways stay and take care of the kids when we go to a swimming pool so I can have an excuse to stay in the kiddie pool. Much less embarrassing than admit the fact to somebody.

I am slightly afraid of the sea. It is so vast and open. It feels as if it could swallow you whole, which it can.

I love the sight and the beauty of the ocean, as well as the feel of the beach. I prefer to stay on the beach though and enjoy the view. If I go in the water at all, I only get my feet wet or I will go about as far as my waist, but I will not swim in it. I just don't like the idea of not knowing what could be swimming underneath me.

Hm, it necessarily the sea. I'm anxious in any body of water where I can't touch or see the bottom. I have had several near-drowning incidents in my childhood which has created this fear. I think the sea is beautiful, but the thought of being out on it (or in it) terrifies me.

Yes, indeed! There is always that unholy fear of drowning. I envy those who can plumb those depths and explore the richness of flora and fauna down there.

yes, I am quite afraid of staying in the sea for long hours. Spending time near the sea is fine for me but I get uncomfortable when I get inside it.

Yes I am in fact afraid of the sea. When I was younger, I was stung by a jelly fish. Ever since then, I've been avoiding swimming in the sea. Also I'm scared of the unknown, and the sea is VERY unknown to the human species. Going in the water and just being that vulnerable to literally anything is not my cup of tea.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of the sea, but I am afraid of drowning. I don't know how to swim despite living on an island all my life.

Only if I had to swim in it. Thinking of what lurks in its depths scare me. But that doesn't stop me from taking walks on the beach.

I am afraid of the sea, along with lakes.. I don't like to be in a body of water that I can't feel or see through, it's terrifying to think of what lies beneath, or what may "get me". I love being on a boat or ship, but for short periods of time, and if I can see land.

I don't know that I'm necessarily afraid but I have a great respect for the sea. I grew up in a city with a beach 15 minutes from my house, so we would go very often and I loved going in and playing in the water with my cousins but my mom taught me to always respect it. Never to go in deeper than my elbows and to watch for undercurrents. One of those could sweep a kid away before you know what's happening. But all in all the sea is beautiful, you just have to learn how to be careful.
