Has the story ended too sudden?

I must say that I was disappointed too, in how it abruptly ended. I felt that I, as the reader, was to assume they made it out safely. I don't like to assume anything. Guess I'll just have to wait for the sequel.

I totally didn't like the way the novel ended, that's the only thing that disrupt my enjoyment of the book. Nevertheless it is still a great work.

Yes the story ended too sudden. Even though there is a sequel some conclusion would have been better.

Yes, I do think the same. I wanted the ending to be clearer. It seemed like the author has left that part to our imagination.

At first, I was very disappointed with the ending it felt so sudden and left you with a lot of questions, then saw that there is going to be a second book, and that makes me excited to get those unanswered questions.

The ending was beautiful, joining the present and past stories. However, I did find that too many questions were left unanswered.

I read Adrift before I read Strong Heart, so I know how some plot points get resolved. I was wondering at the end, however, if it would have felt like a cliffhanger to me if I hadn't read Adrift. Some parts were just left hanging, and I can see how they might have affected another reader's idea of the story's development.

There were many untied knots at the end of the novel. For example, what happened to the mining company? Will Sergei and the company be able to date the bone thrower after all? What is going to happen to Sarah? I assume the author planned from the beginning to write a sequel and that is why he left so many unanswered questions.

At first, I thought the book Strong Heart, ended unfinished, but then I saw that both of the storylines ended almost the same where Sarah and Strong Heart are almost at the "marking" place. I think this tells the reader that Sarah and Strong Heart have finally found a family and a people to belong to.

When I reached that point in the story I thought, well, this story is about this girl's efforts to find a home and family, and in that last scene she bonds wth her grandfather at last, the bear is proven real and she is not crazy; yet, as in life, the worlds continues on, many issues are unresolved, and life keeps happening. I would say that a small number of readers are frustrated by the ending, and to them I will say, apologies, but I thought I closed the main threads. Yes, there are hanging chads, but all novels should have a few of those. All novels.

I think the end of this book was intentionally done by the author to play with our emotions and keep us on the fence. I found it amazing.
