I enjoyed both stories and how they related to other. Tom's original journey into the forest with Bob-Bob was meant to be a journey of discovery. It turned out not to be for Tom. As Sarah and Tom journeyed into the forest together, both Tom and Sarah discover things about themselves and their ancestry. I found the story within the story to be intriguing and pivotal to the modern story-line as well.

The transition between the storylines might become distracting at times, but it is also what makes the book so complex and fluid. I really like Sarah's story more.

Sarah seemed like a bit of a brat at some points, though I ended up liking all the different aspects of the story. They all seemed well-done.

The camping story was easier to follow. I found it confusing when the book first shifted to Strong Heart especially when there were new characters to learn. I wanted more back and forth between the two stories. This would give the reader a chance to check in with the people listening to Sarah's story to see how they were reacting to what she was saying.

I love frame narratives, but I feel that inevitably one is the stronger. Sarah's was definitely stronger in this case.

For me too, the native american part was more interesting. It was majorly because I dont know much about them, so it was lind of exciting to read about it in such detail.

I preferred sarah's journey as it also shows her growth during it.

I enjoyed Strong Hearts story the most. I think it took me a little while to really get into it, but once I did I couldn’t put it down.

Oooh, a story within a story--sounds intriguing! Although, reading some of these comments about Sarah being somewhat of a "brat" I don't know if I'm in clined to read it. It is heartwarming to watch characters grow together throughout a journey together. There's something about seeing the characters go through hardships together that restores your faith in humanity. I have yet to read this one, but maybe I will.. if not just for the story within a story! ;)

I found both to be intriguing and needing each other to create the deep history and significance of the atlatl. I was interested in how little came about with the mining company's presence. I feel there will be much more to come of this mining fight because of the atlatl, and the purpose growing inside them all, fueled by Sarah's vision.

The story within the story was confusing for me. It has so many details which were really hard to grasp. I found it too much when i read the book. I think it would have been better if it was told differently or in a separate book because i thought Strong Heart is about relationships. It could have actually focused more in that aspect.

Both are fascinating although the story within a story from Sarah also stood out for me more. It was a surprise finding it after following the main story for some time.
