Do you think that Tom and William would be able to survive another trek to Bob-Bob's grave?

And what about Sarah - do you think her age played a role in her survival when she went missing for those eight days in the wilderness?

Tom and William could never finish another trek but I think the next time, Sarah will take the role of Tom when he and Bob-Bob had their last trek together.

No, I don't think Tom and William could make that hike again. I think Tom was goal-driven, and this helped him immensely. Getting to Bob-Bob's grave was of the utmost importance at that time. William was driven by sheer determination and his friendship with Tom. Another trek would just be too much.

I don't know if it was Sarah's age so much as it was her stubbornness and underlying strength.

I got the feeling Tom and William were around 70 (I might be wrong here) So I'm actually surprised they even survived this trek! I think it is the magic / the supernatural elements / the bear that helped Sarah survive. I don't think any thirteen-year-old girl who gets lost for 8 days in the wilderness in harsh weather conditions with no food will survive.

PS: I now think I might be a very pessimistic person.

I also don't think that Tom and William should do another long hike like that. They are definitely older men and at some points in the story, you can tell that their age was starting to catch up with them.

I figured they would just because they were main characters, but I definitely thought they would have a hard time.

I've seen those survival shows on television. I don't think the age of the characters necessarily had anything to do with it. I think it's background, skills and a strong sense of self-preservation.

I agree. William, for example, wasn't in the physical shape he should have been for this sort of adventure, but he remained determined.

I don't think Tom and William would be able to survive another trip, as they barely survived the first one. All possible in a book, though...Sarah's age certainly played a role in her survival.

Very true! Anything is possible within a book.

I actually was unsure if William would survive the current journey. I thought they may have had to make another grave alongside Bob-Bob. Tom possibly could survive another trip as it is his history and family roots driving his determination to survive and succeed.

William really did have a rough time of it. He lost a bunch of weight, his feet were constantly bothering him. If he makes another trip, he would really need to "lean on" Sarah and Myra.
I agree that Tom would make it due to his drive and determination.

I suppose that's true. Also like some one mentioned, in the world of fiction, anything is possible.

Sarah is 13, Myra is 29, Tom must be in his late sixties , Willaim we are told is ten years younger than Tom,so he must be in his late fifties

I doubt that William could make another journey, despite being younger than Tom. Tom just might make it again.
