They made the trip possible.
Yeah, it would have been impossible to go to the trip without William because he carried most of the luggage and it was also impossible to find another way to get away from the burning forest without Myra's help.

I think that both of them played an important role throughout the story.
I agree with you .

Yes, they were both important

Yes, it's amazing that Sarah was able to make it as well.

I think theyu were important in the story because the are the supporting characters and also they the ones who help Tom in taking care of Sarah

I think in Charlie Sheldon's Strong Heart, the characters of William and Myra are significant to the depictions of Tom and Sarah. This is because without factoring in both characters into the narrative, the storyline will not be quite the same.

I think they work as a foil for Tom and Sarah/Becky. They have the relationship Tom never had with his daughter, and certainly, at least in the beginning doesn't look like he will have with Sarah. They also serve as the voice of Native American tradition, an important aspect of the novel.

A very insightful assessment!

I feel like as supporting characters the two did exactly what they were supposed to. They contributed both wisdom and compassion. Had they not been there, Tom and Sarah would've been a disaster alone.

In the beginning, it just felt like Myra was there as a woman to look after Sarah because apparently, men are incapable of looking out for a child

Talking of Myra as a supporting character gives me a second-thought. Was she only a supporting character??? She virtually played the role of a mother to Sarah. Worried for her as if she were her daughter; I think she was more than a supporting character.

I believe all four (Tom, Eye, Myra and Sarah) are main characters, but Sarah has the title role. The spirits used Sarah, the child, to send their message. I'm still pondering on the significance of the eight days. Seven is a number that signifies completeness (a week, seven deadly sins, seven signs in Revelations), but there are eight beatitudes. I think I'll ask the author.

William and Myra were really important in my opinion. The whole thing about men being attracted to Myra was a little interesting when I thought that Myra and Tom were a couple (was I the only one who thought this at the start?)..... William seems indispensable because he made some really good suggestions that pushed forward the plot.

I think they were both important to the story. Myra helped one side of the debate of "who were the first people. I found William more of a supporting character, but necessary to the plot.

I kept thinking something bad was going to happen to him as the book kept focusing on his declining physical condition and sturggle with the journey.
