The book is really well written, especially when descriptions, pictures, and immersive experience. Sometimes I was not able to accept that she kept going, many people will give up after going through those things.

I found this part of the book the hardest to read as it was long with a lot of detailed descriptions. I kept hoping the narrative would jump back to the main story. The number of characters and names to remember also made it hard to keep track of who was who in the boat.

The description Sarah gave felt too real and I could easily feel her emotions. I felt that how she would make it to her Grandfather or what will happen if she never went back.

I really felt bad for her since she was still young to go through all of that.

The journey was not hard to follow so to say. For me the entire thing was unbelievable. She was missing just for a week, and yet the journey felt like it was on for ages.

I found it difficult to keep up with her journey. It would have been better if it was shortened.

Sarah’s journey was my favourite part of the book. I felt that Sarah’s journey was the part of the story that Sheldon really wanted to tell. He appears to particularly enjoy writing about this journey and I thought he shared his knowledge brilliantly.

I loved the way the author allowed Sarah to become the narrator and describe experiencing an unexpected, life changing, mysterious and incredible journey of her own.

I thought this part of the novel flowed really well, and appeared to be extremely well researched. Sarah’s turn of phrase, along with the details given of tools used, skills learned, and the (sometimes quite graphic) descriptions of animals encountered, all allow you to believe that Sarah is fully immersed in the times and struggles she is describing.

The careful naming of the characters Sarah met and the beautiful descriptions of the surrounding landscapes and seascapes experienced also added a wonderful touch to the story.

I found Sarah's story very special and I am sure that the author researched a lot before writing this part, in order to make the story sound as believable as possible. I did find the large number of characters a bit confusing, though.

I loved all the descriptions in the story. Sheldon makes it seem as if you're sitting right there with the characters as they are experiencing the different places and scenarios. One thing I wished was changed that would make it better is the balancing of the descriptions with the pacing. Because of the focus on some parts, the novel itself had this drawn-out feel to it.

I like the idea of inserting Sarah's dream vision into the text. However, the execution of that idea was, in my opinion, faulty. I found that section really boring with endless descriptions of mundane tasks. The characters from the Ice Age felt flat and uninteresting. There was no suspense or psychological drama (despite the author's efforts to create some).

I will commend the author for such descriptive ability. I found it more intriguing than scary.
