Does age affect trust?

Sarah's young age might lead a person to believe that she is in her own personal fairy tale. Had Sarah been older would her story have been more believable? :?:

I believe young people should be trusted more.

In Sarah's case, I don't think her age makes much of a difference.

Her character was more matured and learned quickly.

So right. Sarah is more mature than the traditional 13 year old but I surely believe had she been a bit older maybe at 20 Tom would have believed her first incident with the bear.

That could possibly be true. Or he might have thought she was crazy while with a child you just think they have a huge imagination.

Well said.... wish we had more insight of these characters, maybe just maybe we would have known had Tom doubted Sarah for her age or his lack of interest in fantasy.

That would've been interesting to know.

In my opinion, it could not have made much difference. Her mental age was far a lot superior and mature then the usual teens at that age.

I also don't think it would make a difference

I do believe age affects trust. I am more apt to believe an adult as a teenager. Until this post, I have never stopped to ponder on why that is.

Maybe you're thinking that because Sarah's young, her opinion may not be respected. It happens at times, and I believe it accounted for the little trust reposed in her; even more so when the visions she claims to see are greater than what a young girl of her age can take.

I don't think so. I think no matter what age you are if you can you can be trusted. I for the most part was a very trusted and always have been. In Sarah's case with her background I can see why she was hard to trust.

That's true.

That's a new perspective to me
