I think it'll work as a sci-fi movie. Of course, it'll be for adults only because of the explicit content. Also, some aspects of the book would need to be worked on. For example, more emphasis needs to be placed on the scientific aspect than on the relationships.

I think that this might work more as a tv show series than a blockbuster movie, that is if you want to stick to the book as close as possible. Like it was said previously in the forum, movies tend to have to focus on a progressive aspect of the plot that stands out and this doesn't really have it in my opinion.

I think a movie adoptation would be interesting especially nowadays with a lot of books being made into movies. The plot is quite engaging but I'm not so sure about the explicit scenes.

I agree with both of you. I didn't feel like anything substantial really happened...the story arc just wasn't strong enough. Maybe it's stronger in the series overall. But this also doesn't necessarily mean it would be a bad film if the screenwriters were given creative license and allowed to trim down some side plots and soften things up to be a bit more Hollywood/reach larger audiences. Basically, it could use the Forrest Gump treatment. As for actresses, er, I don't know, maybe someone like Emmy Rossum for Jennifer.

Definitely, yes! In fact, while I was reading the book reviews, I'm already picturing in my imagination how the story goes in a movie. I would want Angelina Jolie to play the role of Jennifer.

I think with a bit of refining to the overall plot, and toning of the explicit scenes this has the potential to be a great movie. I think with every movie made from a book things have to be tweaked a bit to have it ready and appropriate for on-screen showing.

I think it would work well as a movie. It needs to be expounded upon as others have mentioned.

We see films without themes and stories but this book is having a theme. So this can be made into a movie

I think many of the aspects of this book could be done from a TV mini-series or perhaps a short movie. In order to make it more interesting, however, I would suggest adding snippets or flashbacks (forwards?) to Jenny’s life in the 30th century to show how things are different.

From the few chapters I have gone through, the book can be rewritten into a movie script and acted out. The whole matter in question would be how to take care of the explicit scenes.
Which audience would the film makers for the Escape from the thirtieth Century be targeting?
That would form the basis of deciding how to handle such scenes.

That's a really good point. Deteriming the target audience is obviously important for any movie, but I think it's especially true for a story like this one.

Most definitely! A great director can turn it into an amazing Sci Fi movie.

Yes, I think a film adaptation will be feasible here if the plot is reworked to retain viewers' attention and the graphic scenes also toned down realistically.
