What does December mean to you?

Post by Heidi M Simone »

Where I (usually) live, the weather gets very frigid and cold, full of snow and wind. However, there is almost a sense of quiet and peace that comes with it. My heart fills with warmth and happiness, especially since this is the time of year that not only do I spend with my family, but I get to think about them even more when I buy presents. It's not the physical present-buying that I'm most excited about, it's the extra thought and time I put into the buying and/or creating a gift as a gesture of 'hey, I thought of you today'.

It's also a time of reflection of the year - of my accomplishments and of my beliefs. A time when I think of love, family, and that little baby Jesus.

How about you? What does December mean to you?

December for me is a time that's about family. It's about pretty lights and decorations, wonderful movies and music and a Savior's birth. Too many times it's about presents and hustle and bustle. That's not what it should be about though!

I love this and I agree! For me, December is also a time for baking yummy, yummy treats/desserts with my hubby, our families, and to share with our loved ones. When I bake for and with others, time sort of slows down and it fills me with peace. :)

In some ways, December is a sad time for me, as it contains the birthdays of too many people I loved who aren't around anymore. But I also like it, especially when there's snow, and, of course, Christmas, though it's over-commercialised and I hate it when shops play Christmas music from October! I love the music though, everything from Bach's Christmas Oratorio to 'Fairy Tale of New York'.

December means a time for family to me, even though we aren't christians we do celebrate christmas as a time for family and friends.

Resting as the company I work for close. Heat as I live in the southern hemisphere. The end of one year and the beginning of (hopefully) a better new year

December means extremely cold weather, winter break, and spending time with my family. A while ago, it meant receiving gifts; now, it means buying gifts for other people.
