While I love that the real estate book and Guru were suddenly brought into Bob’s life at exactly the right time, and I appreciated his student’s question spurring him on personally, my favourite is the purveyor of The Lilac Mint, Mrs Kennedy.

He had no idea who she was and felt so out of his depth and comfort zone, that it is just beautiful for her to have such insight and wisdom, and be willing to share it!

It was a truly special and inspiring moment.

Aunt Teresa

I felt the Janitor was a strong inspiration to myself, as he was pivotal to getting Rob out of his comfort zone and not allowing him to lose track of his potential by getting lost in the familiar.

Mine was the nameless man in Chapter 3 (Vitim's Scenario) because he did something that had such a ripple effect much later. The deer was also cool

My favorite lesson was gleaned from "Shaky" that could serve as my favorite guru.

I liked Aunt Teresa. Her willingness to make a kid feel special even at her own expense was endearing.

From Shakespeare In My Left Pants Pocket, the lecturer was really cool. He chose to be patient and help bring out the real potential of Rob. In a world where any opportunity for elimination is often utilised, that was different.

I would have to say mine is his aunt. Although she was the first story to me it was the most touching because of what he over came just to make him happy and the fact that she kept the old maid cards the rest of her life because of what they meant to her. It really touched my heart. Love your family while you have them before you know it they are gone to soon.

Hands down, my favorite was Pete. There was something just thoroughly refreshing about this guy realizing how he was hurting himself and his health--I think, in part, due to the fact that I often put off my health in favor of worrying about other things--and stepping up to take care of it without pinning it down to some "magical" and unrealistic miracle.

Instead of it being a miracle that he was alive or being left up to some God-intervention, he smartened up about his life and listened to his doctors. And it was just so refreshing to have someone shoot down magical thinking in favor of the intelligent and logical decisions that people should and need to make in situations such as Pete's. It felt really good.

My favorite guru was little Margaret. She made me realize that life is not about me alone. It's rewarding to care about other people, too.

I think it is hard to pinpoint which one was my favorite. There were so many of them that I enjoyed and whose lessons resonated with me. I think though I would have to say that Aunt Teresa would be the closest to being my favorite.

There are so many of them that are unforgettable. The title could have easily been "And then I met Pete or Mr. Lampkin or Maasi mama." But "let me put it this way..."

I loved Aunt Teresa from The Queen of Hearts, but I think my most favorite is Dr. Tucker from Shakespeare In My Left Pants Pocket. Aunt Teresa's example was her selflessness, helping him feel good at her own emotional expense. But for me as a Christian, the example shown by Dr. Tucker is the perfect example of mercy. He gave White a second chance because he saw not what he had done, but who he could be, and I have to say, that is the best example of a Christlike spirit I have seen in a long time. I don't actually know if Dr. Tucker was a Christian, but it would make perfect sense to me if he was.

I think the best was Aunt Theresa. The lesson was handled with more subtlety than what we'd find throughout the rest of the book.
