If they get a good cast, I am sure it will make a wonderful movie.

I've just recently finished reading The Reel Sisters and throughout the book, I imagined it as a movie. I think it was unconsciously prompted by Sophie's mention of A River Runs Through It. I was also reminded of Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner. Both movies have the most incredible scenery and Cummings descriptions brought it all flooding back to me. However, I felt the dialog and characterization of the women was a little one dimensional at times and I think this is where a movie might be more successful. I can imagine good actresses really developing the characters. I think of The Jane Austin Bookclub for example. Kathy Baker as Bernadette would have made a wonderful Rose and Maria Bello as Jocelyn is perfect for Sophie. In fact, the characters are so similar I'm now wondering if Cummings didn't get some inspiration for parts of the Reel Sisters.

Since the book deals with the theme of friendship and has a variety of characters, i think it would make a great movie! I have no cast recommendations.

I think it would be a great movie and if it ever does become a movie, then I will definitely be watching it. Since the characters in the book were different ages, I don't really know who would play as the cast in the movie.

Yes I think it would make a great movie. The story is written in a way that it will be very easy to transform it into a movie.

Risking to post an unpopular opinion, I don't really think it would make a good movie. Not without a great deal of adaptation at least. The mere idea of watching two hours or so of women tying knots and talking about the size of certain flies makes me yawn. However, if they managed to focus on their friendship and spare all the extra details, it could be decent, I guess.

It's possible to make this book a movie, however, its greatness would depend on the director and the actors and actresses to broing out the soul of the story.

I originally thought I would love to see it as a movie. I think it would be very important to pick the right cast. It could be a challenge to meet the caliber of character development that is reached in the book. I think it could be done though. I have a feeling this would be one of those that if you just saw the movie you would love it, but if you read the book first you would feel disappointed at something lacking in the movie.

Yes, it would make a wonderful movie. This would be fun to watch by women of every age group. This would remind them of their close bonds and will also be a big step towards the sport of fly fishing.

I do not see why though. Not only it has enough material to be a movie, but with the right director, it could even reach Netflix. I love these kinds of stories, just talking about life and friendship. I would definitely watch it.
