Is that lack of learning the hard lessons a reflection of society?Kieran_Obrien wrote: ↑18 Feb 2018, 13:01 I started to sense that something disastrous was going to happen during the storm.. and it was as contrived as I feared. Her death was wasted on the rest of the characters too; none of them learned anything from her death really (Rose opened up about her daughter but that's not much) and nothing interesting came after it either. Shock ending with no real purpose.

I am more inclined to agree with you. Amanda was really young and had a lot on her plate.ashley_claire wrote: ↑12 Feb 2018, 16:59 I felt like she was acting a bit out of character to just take off like that. But despite being a mom and wife, she was also still very young. I think she was only 22 or 23. It's definitely not my way of dealing with things anymore, but I can remember being that age and just needing to go somewhere to clear my head.

True! I too felt it was kind of immature. I really wished that they could have sorted things out.gelli_baranda wrote: ↑21 Aug 2020, 02:53 I guess it's a misunderstanding that's blown off. It was not supposed to grow big like that; it can be talked over and settled, not running off in a storm like that. That's kinda immature, if you ask me.

No and yes; No, because throughout the book we see her as a wise and mature for her age mother who is trying hard to hold the fort and yes, because sometimes when you have been strong for too long it only takes something as minor as a disagreement to make one snap.
