I completely agree! Knowing our expiry date :) beforehand would decrease from our overall quality of life. Yes, it would be great to be able to delay getting things in order until the event nears, but I would be constantly watching the clock til my death. So ultimately it would take away from my overall life enjoyment! Not to mention insurance rates would possibly skyrocket :) So yes, I agree with the previous post!

I wouldn't like to know. I'm honest enough to say that death is a terrifying thought to me, and to live my last few days in fear and dread is not very appealing!
You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.

It has its pros and cons. On the positive side, you can put your affairs in order so there is no confusion on your death, fix grudges, etc.
On the flip side, it cases anxiety, leading to some trying to cheat death, causing some to dig an even deeper hole for themselves.
Its like immortality could lead to los of humanity and empathy, and overpopulation leading to destabilisation of the ecosystem.
Everything is balancing on a tightrope and I don't think many people realise that. Something like this could introduce a sledgehammer to the balancing act, leading to total chaos.

What a tricky question.

Some people already choose to know that their life is very limited-- for example, you can be tested for some genetic diseases that result in high mortality before middle age-- but we still have the mystery of also knowing that death can strike at any moment before then, as well.

I think I would want to know because it would motivate me to accomplish the things I wanted and to search out the beautiful moments in each day. When life feels indefinite, it can be harder to appreciate.

Honestly, I would want to know. Though I do not think a 100% accurate technology is even possible, if such a thing did exist, I feel like the information should only be provided to the person themselves and they can choose whether or not they share the information (unless they will die as a minor, then the legal guardians should be informed). I do think it should be optional, so you opt in to finding out the information or not, and can opt in at any time. I think you should not find out until you become an adult though (again, if you die as a minor, your parents are informed, not you). Anyways, it is a very interesting concept.

Not sure I would like knowing this. I'm more of the "live every day like you're last" kind of person. However, at the same time, I know several people that have died young and could have had everything ready for when that time came, had they known.

Knowing when you will die could be a curse or a blessing. It sort of reminds me of Frederick Douglass text " learning to read and write", where he notes or knowledge is similar. It was a curse due to the harsh and negative truth that he learned and a blessing to understand his world and make it better. Back to the question, it could be a curse since you will leave loved ones, leave this world, limited, and fear. It could be a blessing in a way to focus on what you have been wanting to do, not having to worry when you time is up, live life to the fullest, and appreciate what life has given you.

In my opinion it would relieve a lot of stress; if it were truly possible. Unfortunately there are accidents, so unless they are also accounted for then it would still be a crap shoot.

I don't think I would want to know when I was going to die - it would be far to easy to justify decisions if I did. I would rather live my life knowing that I could die the next moment, or I could live for the next 80 years.

Fear itself kills faster than death itself, knowing the day you will die put you and your loved ones in great pain. The question I ask mysel, death is part of human race, why is the death of loved ones always painful

I think that the idea of knowing when I would die, would just be terrifying. Honestly this is because I would basically be living on edge. I would be taking things too seriously, trying to complete everything on my bucket list, and just counting down the days. It's not a holiday, so why would I want to know when? Then the question I would be asking myself is how am I going to die on this certain day? Will I be shot, will i be ran over by a car, is a plane going to crash into my house, or will i die in my sleep? There is all the scenarios that I would replay in my head, and worst of all I would never get sleep. So all in all, the idea of knowing when I will die, is just too worrisome!

On how i would have to know when i will die will definitely put me into questioning how i would. This will also place me in a position to plan my few minutes or days to death

:eusa-think:
On first thought, it seems really great to know when you'll die. You get to correct your mistakes and prepare.
However, it would be burdensome and it would keep you from living your life to the fullest.
