I could be a very powerful performance, but one very hard to watch too.

I think it might work well as a stageplay? I'm all for it as a movie/TV show, but i'm a little wary seeing as it might be hard to capture the emotions in the book just as well in a screened adaptation (especially for an emotion-heavy book like this one). With plays, you do get a little more room for the emotional content because you can add elements like monologues, and the lighting and other stage effects can add to the symbolic portrayal of the internal struggle.

For movies, you might only be able to achieve the same effect with narration because a lot of the struggle is internal and emotional, and it can be difficult to portray all of that without narration, for example. (And people generally seem to think that narration can take away from the immersion in the story, I think.)

I'm thinking of the movie adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day—I feel like that worked a lot better as a book than a movie simply because it captured the emotional struggle better. :)

I would love to see this storyline presented as a live performance!

Of course the book is always better than the movie, but turning it into a stage performance might be a close second! I love how creative playwrights get with how they interpret source material and think this one could be really neat.

It seems complex enough that it would make an emotionally charged play that wools be interesting to see!

I think this will do better as a stage drama. Everything can be shown in a way that it touches the audience strongly, but in a short time period through a stage drama. I cannot name scens which will be more suitable or better to be omited. Still I think this will be a good plot for a stage drama

I think it would be beautiful as a stage play, but would probably have a lot more impact as a movie. I would watch and enjoy both. The book was great.

Oh, my goodness. Having produced a nominated best documentary film, regarding domestic abuse and violence, I think the entire book would adapt well for TV, film and stage.

I think it is a question of how adaptable the book content would be if making a movie. Sometimes a movie cannot capture all the aspects we may have loved in the book or we could end up with a day long movie. The details, the setting and spending time carefully examining each character and what happens to them may not always be practical to accomplish.
But I have seen some of the really old classics take on a wonderful light when made as a movie. But that does not always happen and it is a RISK to the book's reputation if the movie does not meet expectation. Expectation and reality often leaves a gap ....leaving the audience dissatisfied. Is that a risk that one wants to take with their literary work(s)...the author must decide what their legacy will be.

It is a good story for a movie. I would make the viewers move along with the emotions derived from the characters.

The book would be very good on stage, I think a stage performance can do real justice to the messages behind the story.
