I prefer Gary because he never had a choice in life but still hustle to be better.

Duke is more intriguing than Gary, even though I don't like that both characters ended up being alcoholics. He does not act carelessly; in contrast to Gary, who appears to have lost everything, he always knows what he is getting into.

I find Duke's Character most compelling as he was true to himself. He was a vert adventurous fellow who tries everything possible to make both ends meet. He learnt so much about life and became a role model for Gary. His sincerity created the soft spot i had for him. what struck me about him was his philosophy on life specially where he said , all you have is today.

I think the two characters were amazing. However, I will say Duke was more of a mature character who had a better approach to life than Gary. He understood the consequences of his choices and decision as compared to Gary who seemed so confused and naïve.

While both characters being alcoholics may not be desirable, it is understandable that you find Duke more interesting compared to Gary. Duke appears to approach situations with purpose and understanding, making deliberate choices rather than acting aimlessly. In contrast, Gary seems to have lost control and direction in his life. Each character's distinct qualities contribute to their individual appeal and create a contrast in their journeys.

I like the character of Duke Reynolds.

Both of them came from dysfunctional families and had alcoholic parents. Despite his alcohol addiction, Duke always had his foot on the ground. Unlike Gary, he was clear about his passion and was entirely broken when he realized he had to give up the thing he loved the most for good.

I prefer Duke. He was a very compassionate person. Seeing Gray go astray and suffer what he had been through was something he could not bear. That alone amongs other things made his character appeal to me.
