From my perspective. Sword swallowing is both an art and a trick

Yes I think it's an art, seeing the author talked about the life threatening the act is and Duke being injured from it.

Though I have never heard of it before reading this book, but I think it might be an actual art, the book seems like a true story

I am not convinced, I still believe sword swallowing is a trick and not an act.

The author did not do so much to convince me if it was an art or trick but which ever one it is, I think it is very extreme and dangerous and i discourage it. It very impossible to imagine someone could swallow a real sword.

I'm a bit perplexed about this. I used to strongly believe it was a trick. But this book explained it quite well. Because if one can actually destroy his gag reflex, he should be able to put anything down his oesophagus.

I think it is both because it is a trick that can be excited on a stage too.

Swordswallowing is a trick as well as an art. Due to how uncommon it is to practice, the fact that it is performed live on stage qualifies it as both an art and a trick.

This book did not try to convince me if sword swallowing was an art or a trick. Whichever one it is, it is very extreme and should not be encouraged.

I think sword-swallowing is a genuine talent, but it only applies to actual swords and not those that are fake or easily collapsible. I have personally witnessed real sword-swallowers in circus performances, and their ability to do so is truly remarkable. From what I have seen, I don't believe Duke is deceiving anyone, as long as he is indeed swallowing real swords and not using fake or collapsible props.
