Well, the author may have tried to pass the message about how living in the moment may not have pleasurable ending or not, but that is something I got from the book

this is a very good point and observation I could not have agreed less. This is just one lesson out of the many lessons contained in this book. There is no benefit in abusing any drug or substance it only gets worse from there.

I do not think so. I think that hedonism is not bad as long as it stays in check. For example, taking alcohol is not bad, if you regulate it. Remember, there are side effects such as hangovers, getting into trouble with cops. The list keeps going on. When we keep track of our priorities, we end up with fewer regrets as it is hard not to have any.

I intended to unlock the blueprint to elevate people from misery to obtaining a purposeful life. Thus the following messages in the book:

1. Why are alcoholics always alone, even in a relationship?
2. A method to forgive yourself and forgive others.
3. Discovering joy in your work (What activities make you lose track of time?)
4. How do you fit in the community? What is your role?
5. To teach others to have empathy for those who are lost. Meth is a horrible drug, but not all drug users are complete degenerates.

No, I believe the book glorified this way of life and provided unrealistic entertainment to the average reader. Many people, including myself, use books to escape.

Hedonism is based on total pleasure and happiness; what these men chose was self-gratification in response to a current situation.

Really interesting comments however themes I got from this book were on self-discovery and redemption.

I believe hedonism is certainly present as a theme in the book, but I don't believe it is the main focus. The central idea revolves around the process of self-discovery and self-acceptance. The protagonist goes through the journey of understanding their true identity and embracing it, even if it means facing uncomfortable truths or overcoming addictions. However, I do agree that excessive pursuit of pleasure can lead to unhappiness. When one becomes fixated on seeking pleasure, any other experiences or emotions may seem unbearable in comparison.
