I agree because it was an excellent romance, but looking at others' reviews, it gets a bad rap because it's mislabeled. Then again, maybe the author is trying to lure in a broader audience by reaching for the thriller title.

The only real true "thriller" part I felt like was at the end. Besides that, I feel like it should be marketed towards a historical-romance rather than a thriller.

Belle Ami categorically states that her book is an "Out of time thriller". In my view, the book does not fit in the authentic "Thriller" category at all, but more of romance in a historical setting. The sense that there is looming danger or urgency to act fast, or a deadline to get the mission done, is totally missing.

Did you find a specific reason to label it as a thriller?

I did not find this to be a thriller at all. It was completely a romance novel with some historical references. I'm not sure I'd even categorize it as historical fiction. I thought the categories were completely misleading.

I agree that this should have been marked more as a romance or just fiction, rather than being labeled a thriller. There definitely was not enough suspense to be labeled as such.

I think the ending made it into a thriller, although the rest of the book wasn't very intense.

This novel is definitely a romance. The focus is more on the romantic relationships from the three different time periods. The "thriller" aspect was secondary to that. Having Sorento chasing after Angela and Alex made it thrilling and suspenseful, but those scenes were not as prevalent as the blossoming romances.

After reading "The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci," I agree that the book does not have all the stereotypical elements of a thriller, which is partly due to the early revelation of Scordato's malicious intent. However, I actually would still classify Ami's work as a thriller for the following reasons:

- In my opinion, a thriller is a story that involves a mystery or crime; and "The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci" involves solving the mystery of the existence or non-existence of a painting. Furthermore, Max Jaeger wanted to find evidence that could clear his uncle's name.

- Lastly, I believe that the "looming danger" is represented by Scordato's persistent threat to perpetuate the vicious cycle of everyone's past lives.

You said the exact things I wanted to say. However, the book was completely enjoyable

I definitely agree with you. This book doesn't fit into the thriller category at all. At the most, it had a tinge of thrill in it. It fits best into the romance category.

It was not a thriller with no heart race or pace. This book is a down and down romance with thriller settings.
