I will have to say I like Giuliano and Fioretta best, if only because I am fascinated by their era. During that time when marriages were dictated by political alliances, was there room for true love?

Funny! I liked Gerhard and Sophia's story because it was so dangerous for them to escape during WWII. Sophia seemed like a strong women who developed a plan to go to her family home. She also was able to figure out where to hide the painting.

Fioretta and Guiliano are my favorite couple, well, relatively. Because I like other two couples a bit less. No other specific reason. My concern is more on the general story rather than the lovers in it

Giuliano and Fioretta, I could never resist a real love story.

If we are talking about DaVinci, I`ll say Fioretta and Giulliano because you can feel the spirit of that century.

Fioretta and Giuliano take the cup for me. Simply because I enjoy reading romance when in a historical setting. There was little fluff with the two of them and more love, in my opinion. But I also liked Angela's and Alex's chemistry. There is something alluring about being deeply attracted to someone without knowing why.

Fioretta Gorini and Giuliano de Medici are my favorite couple. Fioretta is so bold and passionate in her feelings for Giuliano. And I feel that of the three male counterparts, Giuliano is the one that sacrifices the most to be with his love, Fioretta. I also love the way they speak to one another. Their language is so romantic. I wish we had a little more insight into their love story.

Yeah, I know, but I didn't want to disclose too much although technically, all those commenting here have already read the book.

For the same reasons, I guess Giuliano and Fioretta are my favorite couple too. There was room for true love, but there was not much room for marriages based on true love.

I agree with you that Sophia is perhaps the strongest of the three women. I am also thinking of what happened to her and Gerhard at the end of their story.

That's quite interesting considering the book is basically a romance. As far as I am concerned, "the general story" could have been developed a little bit more.

I guess that's a very good definition of love. Being attracted to somebody without really knowing why.
