Although the story was great as is, I do agree that adding a Dad in the mix would have been a bonus. I understand that most moms take care of the activities Toni does in the story, but I do think it would be a refreshing change to include Dad in the storyline, even if briefly.

The addition of a dad would be a good thing but I don't think it will add much of a difference. The story is good as it is, and the reality now days is that many households are headed by a single parent.

Having both parents present in a child life is very important. Even if it was in a small way having a father figure is important especially in a little boys life.

Of course, every family has to be complete. Fathers also have a role in their kids development.

I think adding a dad would have been great, but maybe the writer had their own reasons not to include the dad. Maybe the dad was busy, or it wanted to show kids that you can also be important in life, even if you're not lucky to have both parents.

I still do not understand why Toni's dad was excluded. That is non appreciation of there role in their kids development.

Three ought to be a dad. The exclusion of a dad is a non appreciation of the role they play in a family set up.

I like to see a stong male role model, a Dad or big brother, a clergy member or even a teacher. Children get different skills from both

I agree with you. Maybe one story about mom or grandma or both....and the other about dad and grandfather. Let them decide what the family is like, so they can relate more to it.

I think that it is interesting to see a children's book where there is only one parent. Many children's books (and TV shows) have both parents, but I think having one where they do not would help children who come from a single parent home identify with the protagonist of the book. In a perfect world, each child would have two parents but sometimes due to circumstances this doesn't happen. It would be nice for those children who lose a parent to have a scenario in which they can see themselves.

There should definitely be a dad in this book! Toni could of received his superpowers from him. That would be so entertaining!
