Children are always interested in the pictures of the book. For them, repetitive sentences do not matter.

I think the sentence repetition is good for teaching young children how to read. That being said, I can definitely see how it would make for a boring story for older readers.

No I don't think so because children always like to read and write the poems and poem like stories so the repetitive sentences in this book give resemblance to the poem that is fit for the children.

I think children are the only person I know of who happen to enjoy repetition so much. They love it. Furthermore, it boosts their understanding on the text. I do not see anything wrong with it.

I don't think repetition affected the flow of books storyline. It enhances memorization of the books content.Anyway, I hate repetition in books. They make me go crazy.

I hated the repetition. It made the book boring. On the contrary, I bet children will find that interesting.

I prefer an interesting storyline but the book is intended for children who are only starting to read. Repetitive sentences would work better on children who are only starting to read. :tiphat:

It's tricky, I think, and it's a fine line to walk. It probably depends more on the mood and energy level of the child when you read them the book than it does on the action of the story, if they're very little.

Repetition is a valuable key element in the human brain. Most teachers have children repeat what they read and then ask, what do you think this story is about? Typing tests have you go over the same keys on a keyboard over and over- it is to make you type faster because you will be so used to where those keys are that you could type them blind. Repetition is also a memory tool.

Depends on the child. Advanced readers will not enjoy the repetitiveness in the sentences.

I do not see anything wrong with repetition. This is children's book and I bet they learn a lot through repetitive sentences.

I think repetition worked for this book as it fulfilled its aim of being a teaching tool. However, in subsequent stories the author should add more plot.

The book receptiveness helps the child lear. My son is 5 years old and he wanted me to read it over again, but he chose to read it. He was able to say the words because it was so simple with great descriptive illustrations and that helped him gain confidence in reading it. :D

I think for this age group a plot would probably go over their heads. After all, this is for kids still learning words. I believe it is the beautiful pictures that will hold their attention.
