Toni's dislikes

The author has included only "likes" about the Toni's character. Do you think she ( the author) should have included "dislikes" as well to give a more thorough look of Toni's personality?

Adding Toni's dislikes would definitely help develop Toni's personality. It would also make the book more complex for early readers. Do you think it would be better to add his dislikes to this book, or to make a second book about his dislikes?

maybe including his dislikes seems too negative? Just a thought. It's probably best to use as many positive words with children as possible and you wouldn't want to alienate parents by saying Toni dislikes something their children like or they want their children to like.
What do you think some dislikes would be that might be acceptable to parents?

I quite agree let the input be positive, the negatives will eventually come.

I think dislikes would detract from the sunny charm of the book.

Since this book is geared towards those that are just beginning to read, it would make the book too complicated to add dislikes. It is better to positive with kids than to reinforce negative thoughts.

This is a very positive book. I think anything to detract from that will put a dampener on the story, and I think it would make the book less enjoyable.

I wouldn't mind another book with dislikes, but I think dislikes would mess with the flow of the book.

I absolutely wanted to see some "dislikes" and maybe some "loves." It might have made this book a bit more interesting. It could have also given it some semblance of a plot.

Love and like together in this book wouldn't have made it much more complex and it would have given some variation to how much Toni enjoys certain things. He make like to sing but love to dance.

I think the use of "like" is clever. Since this book is for very young readers, babies even, the simpler, the better. The author could have used "can" but that will connote only ability, not enjoyment. "Like" is also a familiar word because of social media. "Love" is more complicated. At that young age, let the children love people first (just my opinion). "Dislike" is a difficult word and will bring negativity to an otherwise very happy book. I don't think Debbie Hefke would like to draw a frowning Toni.

I think he could have disliked something to make him more interesting. "Toni dislikes cleaning his room, but he knows it's important to do."
It would help teach kids that sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

I know that this will make this book a bit more complex. It will reduce the consistency and instead of giving a complete view of his personality at one time it will segregate it into two sections.

But don't you think that adding his dislikes would give a more balanced view of Toni's personality. And if we see it positively it can help children to abandon some negative traits, like we can say "Toni dislikes throwing garbage out of the house." Just through pictures and in simple words. Children would like to mimic that what the Toni ( their favourite character) dislikes, they should avoid this too.
And parents can also use this to remind children that you(children) should stay away from all those habits which your superhero avoids.
