I started it and reached Chapter 5. Where are you in the book?

I really like the premise, Circe, and the style of writing.

I haven't gotten very far, but I did start.

It seemed in the first chapter or two there was a lot background/mythology building. I liked most of it, but then I had a hard time keeping track of some of the mythology since I don't know much about myths. However, I am pretty drawn to Circe and to learn more of her path in life.

I have read a few mythology books, so I am familiar with some of the tales. I love mythology tales, and I like the way the author integrated them into the tale.

I am on chapter 17 and can't stop reading. I know of Circe from other tales, and I love that the author painted her in a different light. In other tales she was pained as an evil woman. Here, she is more human and her actions make sense. She does acted silly at times, and I wanted to shake her for some of her choices.

I'm reading the part where Circe is in exile, but now her sister wants her to be present during the birth of her next child. Circe and some mortals are about to sail across Scylla's waters where she kills/eats sailors. I'm curious to see the interaction between Circe and Scylla, and why in the world does Circe's sister wants her around now!

So...I've made it to the halfway point, and I'm struggling to continue. Not sure if this is for me. Partly because of the mythology tied in (since I don't know a ton of them), but also I'm getting a bit tired of her being on the island.

Does something epic happen later on or is it just the same as it has been (where there's some excitement, then it's just her on the island again)?

Too bad. If you don't enjoy it, you should not force yourself to read it. I loved the book and couldn't stop reading. Even though she is on the island, there are some surprising developments, and she will leave the island at some point.

Where are you in the book? There is some excitement when she gets new visitors.
