I am a couple of chapters in. The writing is a bit childish, but I enjoy it so far. It reminds me of her 'Wayward Children' series.

I wonder why she wrote this under another name.

This book is actually a plot device from Middlegame (it's a book that exists in that world, written by a character, and quoted a bit throughout the book).
Technically, in that world, it's supposed to be a contemporary of The Wizard of Oz. (Non-spoilery. Wouldn't have ever considered a read-a-long otherwise :tiphat: )

So...instead of writing the various quotes, she just wrote the whole book so she could actually quote from it, and so, when it got published, they published it under the character's name.

Avery just landed in the chasm/Zib was carried down by Oak.

I'm really enjoying this. The style is very childish, but it reminds me of The Neverending Story in a way, and I love that.

I see. I didn't read Middlegame but plan to.

I like it, too. It reminds me of Narnia and Alice in Wonderland, the way they fell down holes.

I liked the craw girl and the Bumble bear, and the Owls are cool!

I finished it. I did not expect it to have such an open ending. She doesn't do that very often.

We do get another one, so that's good.

I really enjoyed this one. Something about it just grabbed me. Probably the feel of it, though it may have been Zib.
Anyway, just really enjoyed it. Will likely reread it periodically.

Sorry for the wait. Time seems to have no meaning anymore.

A bunch of stuff conspired against... Everything, really. Including sleep.
Here's hoping that is done now.

We can pick back up on October whatever you want. :tiphat:

I didn't like the open ending. I enjoyed the book but found it just an ok read. I gave it 3/4 stars.

It is ok. I started other books meanwhile. I hope all is well now. :)

I am in the middle of another book, but we can start it today if you like. :)

@gali

I'm finished with my book. I'm went ahead and started Along the Saltwise Sea, as I'm reading super slowly (I was doing so much better! I don't know what happened! :gaah: )

I'll open a thread later, unless you get to it before I do. :tiphat:
