I am in love with the suicide ending of the book. It seemed to really complete the story.The story is well overrated.

I agree that the suicide ending felt right and I felt very sad when I thought he jumped. But I thought Rex or Franklin were going to save him and I think that would have been a good ending that also allowed for a sequel.

I definitely see why the author would not have wanted a suicide ending. This way, there is an opportunity for a sequel.

While I was reading it, I was actually disappointed when I came to the suicide ending. I think the finality of it would have made me feel like the dystopian society won which I think is why a lot of people like dystopian themes, there is usually a hero or a huge element of hope that keeps them engaged vs. finality or negativity because then the entire theme would be doomed.

If the suicide ending had turned out to be the real ending, I'd have lost interest in a sequel. The real ending was not great but at least it left me with unanswered question.

I know it would have changed the message the author went for, but it would have been interesting if Sliver took over the company after killing the boss...a sort of "hostile takeover."

I like the real ending better, it might be a cliff hanger but it made a room for a sequel and I would like to read it.

Both endings would have worked, but the audience need closure. Maybe in the second part.

I personally do not like the ending of killing yourself. I just simply prefer happy endings.

I have not read the book but committing suicide is like saying that all hope is gone. I do think that even if all things are falling apart, hope is there to make your life better.

I was left aghast and hanging. The book felt incomplete.

This was my thoughts reading through the comments. I'd be interested to see where he goes next. Seems incomplete not leaving it at the suicidal death.

I haven't read the book, but it certainly sounds like an interesting choice. Perhaps the author himself was fighting within himself for the proper note of justice. Even if I disagree that suicide should be a viable option even for a murderer, it does seem to fit the tone of the story, and if the author had chosen to leave it there, it would have made for a more thought-provoking ending.

I agree with you! The fake ending followed by a real ending seems to have stirred up a lot of controversy among the readers. I feel confident that we will see a sequel coming at some point in the future.

I actually liked the real ending, because it left the reader to wonder what would Sliver do next and would he join the side of good in helping the world become a better place with newfound freedoms. I would have been disappointed with the "fake" ending and probably be a bit depressed by it.

I believe suicide is never the answer, it might offer some resolution to the narrative though.
