Similarites between World Inc. and Wall-E

I have not yet read World Inc. But this discussion about similarities with Wall-E definitely makes me want to give it a try. Hope that it is a good experience.

I get where you're coming from, but I think they're more different than they are alike.

Wall-E features a small robot who cleans up messes, and World, Incorporated features a hitman. The humans are still on Earth in World, Inc, and in space for Wall-E. They may both feature under-stimulated humans, but the humans of World, Inc must worry about competing companies.

Good observation! In both of them, giant corporations take over and take control of people's lives and turn them into imbecile beings. As I have not read beyond the sample, I won't be able to point out further differences.

While this is definitely an interesting comparison, there are way more differences than similarities in my opinion. even if something seems similar that doesn't mean the author got their "inspiration" from it. could just be a coincidence.

Now that you mention it, I see it a little too. I think similarities are bound to happen when the genre is shared - especially when big corporations are a controversial and loaded topic sometimes. However,the author did a good job with the differences, keeping the story from being stale.

It's good when authors take the time to properly work a story and create a unique experience.

I couldn't agree more. Any story can begin the way others have, but I love when authors can change something and weave a story that hasn't been done.
