They definitely have some common traits, even if Jason Bourne's story was more complex.

I think there is some resemblance between the characters. The only difference is that Jason Bourne has been developed and his character fleshed over a longer period of time, making him more complex. If there is a sequel to this book more similarities may appear as the character is deepened.

There is a similarity in the way they were trained. Both went through rigorous mind-control and memory manipulation. Both were used by their trainers to achieve their goals. But after that, I don't see any more similarity. Sliver relied on technology and gadgets. Jason used his own skills and intelligence to complete his missions.

Yes, I do see the resemblance now that you draw my attention to it! Not so much with the rest of the story though.

The resemblance is definitely there. I think its becoming a trend nowadays for heroes to either go through traumatic experiences or one thing or another, and end up not remembering their past. It brings a mysterious and suspenseful twist to the story.

They follow the same line of thought but the Jason Borne movie series is more complicated.

You know, that's a really good question. Definitely had me thinking, but as I think about Sliver, we know that he remembers who he is, this unlike Jason Bourne. He's aware that they did some kind of experimentation on him, but he has blank spots in his memory. And he's an assassin in spite of the knowledge, whereas Bourne was stripped away of all memory of who he was prior to being an assassin - he didn't know anything but that. I definitely see the need to exact revenge on the persons and institutions that performed the experiments on them that made them "monsters" as the biggest similarity.

The two are victims of traumatic experiences.

Is it possible that the author uses Jason Borne as one of the precursors towards creating a character such as Agent Sliver with his complexities and gives the character a great depth? I would like to think so.

A while back I would have leaped at the chance to buy and read another book that could be associated with Jason Bourne style story because I loved those movies and books very much. :)

I've only read the review, but I thought of the comparison to Jason Bourne, too.

I thought I was the only one who noticed it. The similarities are extremely !Amy and real as of the writer drew inspiration from Jason.
