I agree with Sushan. Dystopians and science-fictions, be it movie or book, have often times potrayed the same theme again and again. Slight similarities aren't even coincidences anymore.

Very true. Often it's a case of "same meat, different gravy." ;)

The only thing I noticed was the world being run by corporations in both.

Now that you mention it, I see it a little too. I think similarities are bound to happen when the genre is shared - especially when big corporations are a controversial and loaded topic sometimes. However, the author did a good job with the differences, keeping the story from being stale.

I think if the genre is the same it is normal to notice some similarities. But according to my opinion, few similarities don't affect the entire book.

I guess it could be. I think a lot of futuristic books or moving have a similar reason to get where they are and it usually includes corporations running things.

I didn't notice that connection until you mentioned it, but still am having trouble connecting the two. With your instance, this book would connect those Minions movies more, in my opinion. The books both had robots, that's all else I see.

They certainly deal with similar themes! I think it's very interesting how so much science fiction tends to echo itself.

As I'm starting to read the book, I begin to note some similarities as well! Maybe is just a coincidence or maybe the author just pictured how Wall-E would go if they went the opposite direction and fought to remain on Earth.

Some books contains lot of similarities that a person could be mistaken into believing that they are a replica of each other. I spotted the similarities.

At first, I did not see a resemblance to the movie Wall-E, but now that you mention it I can see it now. I agree with the prior posts that the mindlessness of the people is the biggest similarity. I think that environment that the citizens grew up in is different, space compared to planet Earth. I also agree that in the book the super-corporations fixed the problem of global warming whereas in the movie the corporation gave up on Earth.

You should! It's very sweet (in direct contrast to World, Inc) :)

This is a great observation. I would never have made the connection myself, but now you’ve pointed it out I can see similarities between the two worlds.
