While I was reading it, I was actually disappointed when I came to the suicide ending. I think the finality of it would have made me feel like the dystopian society won which I think is why a lot of people like dystopian themes, there is usually a hero or a huge element of hope that keeps them engaged vs. finality or negativity because then the entire theme would be doomed.

I agree with you! The fake ending followed by a real ending seems to have stirred up a lot of controversy among the readers.
