I totally agree with you. Suicide should never be an option. There are other ways too that can help us in the situation we are stuck in.

Suicide is never a pathway to escape problems. It is wrong. Agent Silver should refrain himself from the thoughts.

Suicide is never an option. We have people living as fugitives and they survive.

True. Everyone should be accountable for their errors.

I don't think suicide could be an option. Yes, his conscience disturbs him for his past misdoings but he can only correct that by changing his ways for the better.

I don't think it is his only option even though I do think it is obviously a viable option. I think that Silver could start to work towards his own redemption by using his skillset for better things. We have already seen that he is capable of sympathy and mercy so I could see him working towards a better life.

If it is adopted into movie, I see a soap opera around agent Silver and Kelly. They are madly in love. It will make a great movie.

Hm... it shouldn't be, because it means that the murders go unatoned for, but I also wonder whether we permitted to judge what a person themselves sees as a viable option? Some say that suicide is cowardly, and avoiding punishment is definitely so, but ending any chance of a future at all, including the potential of getting help and being happy post-punishment (in general I mean - this case is more complex), is not a choice that's made lightly. I don't doubt that it would seem like a viable option to someone in Agent Silver's position.

Suicide is a social wrong and morally unacceptable. No society supports suicide. Life not only belongs to an I individual. Suicide as such is a non consideration for agent Silver.

cristinaro wrote: 09 Aug 2018, 05:58 A hitman for World, Inc., Agent Sliver hardly remembers his previous self. Once he decides to rescue Kelly and the Shredders, he slowly gets caught into a sweeping tide of emotions and feelings raging from remorse and despair to pure rage and hatred.

In his essay, The Myth of Sysiphus, Albert Camus saw suicide as the “one truly serious philosophical problem.”

Looking back at his years of murders, do you think suicide is a viable, if not the only option for Agent Sliver?
I do not think it's a viable option.

Suicide isn't the answer to any question or problem. The only solution would be changing his ways and helping as many people as he can. He has already made a huge step by realizing that he has done great harm. To atone he would probably have to end up losing his life through bravery and not by ending it himself. He would have to fight to the end.

Suicide would have been his last option, but it wouldn't have provided him with the freedom he so desperately craves.

I think the most viable but infinitely harder option is for him to continue living and atone for his sins. Suicide at this point will only be for his own peace of mind and will not correct any of the mistakes he has made.

I was very surprised when the option of suicide was presented in the book. All along, Sliver had been a fighter. He did kill as part of completing his missions, but he showed that he valued life when he saved Kelly. A different topic refers to Jason Bourne. In his case, in spite of all the killings he had done, he was able to overcome that despair and find the strength to begin a new life. I think Sliver always had that same option and was glad that the suicide plan was aborted.

I haven't read the book but suicide is never an option. There is always an other way out. I think the author should have found out the alternative for Silver other than the suicide.
