I usually HATE romance novels and any similar scenes but I actually did not mind the romance in this book. Some stories are overly corny with the romance. Maybe since this was much less "corny" than other books I've read recently I really didn't cringe *much*.

Romantic scenes are not bad, but if the author oversteps the boundary, I would definitely become retractive.

I really don't mind erotic scenes if they're written well. This was written in too much vague expressions. I might end up skipping them.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

In my point of view erotic scenes is not gross at all. It is still depends on the genre. In the romance I think they doing it to show how much they love each other. But in the mature or adult genre? Their hobby ?I thnk

The sex scenes were okay for me. I think the author was trying to show the love making without being too graphic.

AliceofX wrote: 01 Sep 2018, 02:58 To me, that was the most cringe-inducing part of the book. I can't stand when writers try to be all literary and use phrases like, "openly displaying his manly attributes," and, "She was a tight bud opening to his heat." Just use adult words for goodness sake.

But maybe that's just me. Maybe that would have made the book too adult. What did you think?
I feel the same way about writers getting unnecessarily poetic about erotic scenes, it just makes them hard to read. I liked that they got to be together but hated the way it was written.

Erotic scenes in any book should be written well by the authors especially if the genre of the book is categorized as other fiction. This is because some readers do may not like reading erotic content. Otherwise, if the book has been categorized as romance. The reader would have willingly chosen to read the book knowing its contents.

I like adult scenes generally. The author of this book may have just put a little to much thought into the details.

The erotic scenes become more funny than erotic. :lol2: I agree with you and I think it would add more to the book if the author did use more adult words.

I'm a little bit pervasive in nature, so I don't mind the erotic scenes,in fact I enjoy them. My opinion people should go for the book that agrees with them, if you are too religious, there are books suitable for you.

I wouldn't qualify the sex scenes in this book as erotic or slightly pornographic. Short of saying, "...and then they made love," the author just include some tacky euphemisms and included so little detail. I think I would have preferred she completely ignore the act itself to her poor treatment of it.
I totally agree with this. It's not that hard to be straight-forward. The euphemisms and flowery language take away from the writing. I'd rather the author just leave these parts out.

Well the story is address not only to adults but to the younger ones. I think it's rather funny how Tanner depicts every encounter. Her wordchoice is definitely particular, on that I agree.

Erotic scenes have always been a dicy issue for writers. Not all of them can successfully find the right diction to express themselves without at the same time sounding too raw. That's the case with this one.

I don't mind a bit of sex in a book as long as it is well-written. If not, or if it goes on for too many pages, I find myself just skimming through the sex parts to get back to the story.

I would not mind the erotic scenes or the use of some colorful euphemisms. They all add up to lively language.
But you see, there is a rule in writing that women authors are more acceptable as purveyors of eroticism.
