I don't mind some adult content, but it really depends on the book I'm reading. If the scenes are poorly written and really do nothing for the story, I will skip them. The euphemisms that some authors use to be less graphic can often make the scenes comedic when I'm reading them. I've actually read some erotic novels that were very well written if that is the sort of book you are looking for. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty written by Anne Rice under the pen name A.N. Roquelaure comes to mind.

To me the erotic scenes were unnecessary in a way that they weren’t actually erotic yet they weren’t very subtle either. From the scene you can tell there was love being made yet it was described in an odd way. The euphemisms were just not very desireable or well conveyed. If more time had been spent writing them and more detail would have been put into them then I think the purpose of the scene would have been more prominent. They way the erotic scenes are written makes it seem too small a detail to have even been written at all

I would have preferred it if the erotic scenes were not included at all. I'm not opposed to sexual content, given that it is done right. The metaphors and allusions were incredibly cringey. They ruined the tone of, what should have been, really meaningful scenes and made the book very hard to get through.

A part of a very underdeveloped relationship between Catrin and Marcellus. Usually I am a fan of ramance, but, this was quite off putting

I too thought that way. Having been placed on the adult category, the reader is ready for such scenes.

I cringed reading that part of the book. I am usually all for romance, but, these erotic elements seemed fake and porn movie like and quite different from the rest of Catrin's character.

Then it will be better if you avoid the romance genre completely.

The flowery euphemisms are corny. There's really not much else to say about it. I get trying to make an erotic scene less raunchy and quite a lot of the time, authors use this tactic to make their characters more special that other couples in other novels. If their sex can be described poetically so, then it must mean their love is anointed, right? If done well, and if characters are descried in the same flowery way and that's the general tone of the book, then sure, make their love seem larger than life. The euphemisms are still corny though.

I really don't care for erotica whatsoever, so I was a bit disappointed that it was included in this book. I had thought this would make a great young adult fantasy series, but the adult content changed my mind. I really can't speak to whether the erotic scenes were done well or not because I cringe whenever I encounter erotica.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

I did not like the erotic scenes. I agree with a few of the comments above. Redundant words were used, and it felt weird.

I think a well written sexual scene coule be very beneficial to a novel. But in this case I didn't feel like it was built nicely.

I agree, it's not appealing to me when the erotic scenes are nade overly arty or romantic. I think they should be more real.

I'm confused as to the level of sexual content. Is it 2 or 3?
Can anybody help?

Hi, I'm a new member and I haven't really grasped the PRQ thing yet. On the erotic scale, where does the sexual content of this book fall? Please help
