although, I like the idea of a happy ending that is also not always the case. So even though I would like for there to be a happy ending I would say I would like this story to end the other way around,

I didn't really care about their relationship at all, but I do like happy endings in my books - even if they're not exactly realistic.

I would prefer them to end up together, regardless of what others say and think

I would like them to be together, but I would want it to take a lot of effort. I don’t think readers would enjoy the relationship if they easily triumphed over the barriers that abolished there love. I would rather them not end up together if that was the case, because I don’t think it would be suspenseful and intriguing otherwise.

Haha, I think I am on the same page as you on this one. I never developed a deep affection for the "relationship" between Catrin and Marcellus. It just never seemed too deserving of my attention. The only reason I would be interested in the next volume would be to see what happened to all of the other characters.

I have mixed feelings about if they should be together or not. If together, then that is predictable, but if apart, they can still communicate telepathically which I like as an aspect of the story. That way, they can still interact without there being any conflict, but yet, it keeps the love alive between them. I think the longer they are apart, the more sequels this author can pen.

I'd prefer a happy ending, love is always cliche but it's a popular opinion.

They went through a lot, so I think they deserve a happy ending.

Also, the both of them dying in each other's arms and meeting in an alternate realm can also be a good possibility or is that too morbidly romantic of me?
That is a possibility that I didn't even consider. I think that would take this series firmly into the realm of science fiction.
True and then it would become a very unique book belonging to the genres of historical fantasy and science fiction, which would be very interesting to read.
That would be the best way to end this series if the author is going for a trilogy.

I appreciate everyone's feedback about where the love story between Marcellus and Catrin should go in the series. The story is based, in part, on the legacy of Mark Antony and Cleopatra. The events leading up to the invasion of Britannia will unfold in the series as Marcellus and Catrin mature and take on leadership roles in their respective homelands, but their absolute love for each other, which will be tested, will never waver. I'm a true believer in "love at first sight" and believe the power of love can conquer all.

Happy endings are always good to read. I always pick a book to read when it has a happy ending. The civilizations and other conundrums must not or cannot hinder true love and so I think a happy ending to the story is more appealing and logical.

I know it may not be realistic, but I hope they end up together. On one hand if the author is not portraying everything exactly as it was back then, I think in the end they may be able to use them getting married as a tool.for peace between the two empires.

i personally favour happy endings, and in a world where myth and magic is present, naturally the possibilities are endless. i would prefer a happy ending although a heart wrenching scene before their ever after life would probablyy bring more emotion to it, for example; if one loved the other so much and gave up their life or something irreplacable just so that the other could live even though it meant death for the one who sacrificed. after such a scene a happi8ly ever after would be best.
