I'm not sure if I agree with you or not. For those who are stuck in their "buts", it should be a self-help book. They are out of touch with reality. As I see it, that is his point.raqstar1 wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018, 10:36 I really think that this book was more of a reminder for those who have already heard the main points than a true self help. As I read it, there were a few moments of 'Oh yeah' reminders. I don't think action points would have been very helpful because it really isn't a 'how to' book with steps to take. It's more like a metaphorical slap back into reality.
Did the lack of Action Steps take away from the usefulness of this book?

But luckily with the book, I could take a break any time I felt my mind drifting away.

Mmmm, I didn't think of that. I admire your approach but if I am honest, I'm a little too lazy to follow your example. Kudos to youCinWin wrote: ↑05 Nov 2018, 09:49 Action steps at the end of each chapter are two-fold. Sometimes they pertain to the readers life - other times they are just something I would not do. I made my own action steps for this book. Also, when you take the time to do that yourself, it solidifies the knowledge into your brain and you get more out of the book.

I understand. I posted this topic because while I was reading, I kept expecting some further direction or examples that never came!Ever_Reading wrote: ↑14 Nov 2018, 10:42 I'm glad someone said it! The lack of action steps made the book feel like one long introduction, in my opinion. As I was reading, I couldn't help but feel like I was in a lecture and the professor was reading information from his slides without even looking up. And as a student, that is the worst kind of lecture to have.
But luckily with the book, I could take a break any time I felt my mind drifting away.

I only do that with books that I am really interested in. If I did that with all of them I would read a book every 6 months!Ever_Reading wrote: ↑14 Nov 2018, 10:46Mmmm, I didn't think of that.
