I also thought there might be an actual ghost in the novel, but to my surprise there was none.

Well honestly, seeing the cover page without any knowledge of its content, one would think, it is relates to the scream movies. But I like it

I think at first glance the use of Ghostface would help the book. However, if the potential reader thinks the book is a Scream tie-in, the use of the character’s image and name could potentially hurt the book.

I love the fact that such design is used on the book cover. I think it created chaos on a lot of people's mind, thereby making it intriguing to read the book.

I thought initially that it was connected to the movies, though I have not seen them except for clips. I think the mask itself has become an icon for fear and so it kind of fits. But I realize it will not be to everyone's taste

More like "anything to attract a wider audience" stuff.

I think Ghostface is recognizable to many, particularly because of the Scream franchise. I think it could be a double-edged sword though. Some people may want to read it because they think of how scary those films were, or they might think the story is a parody and expect humor. I was worried about generic tropes and cliches and was going to pass the book up.

Yeah I think the author probably thought that if he used an iconic image, it would garner more initial interest. Especially from those who loved the Scream series. However I don't think that image should've been used in that way. Why not just come up with an original scary mask image for the cover?

The cover blends with the story in a subtle way but it has the potential of misleading readers as well.

The ghost face is off to me. The only issue I have with the book.

I haven't had the chance to read scream films. But I feel the similarities worked in favour of the book as many of the Scream film fans went for it.

I think it was fine to use the mask. I get how it plays into the book regardless of it's ties to Scream.

I suppose if you are a "Scream" fan you would have made the connection. I'm not, so it did not resonate with me.

This book cover gives an impression that the book contains a ghost story which is not true in this case. But, the murderer wearing a ghost mask in the plot is relatable with the cover page design.
