Re: 2017 Reading Challenge

I'm aiming for 200 this year. I usually read around 100 or so but last year, I kind of completely didn't even open a book unless it's required so I guess I should try and make up for the year I didn't do anything

I think my goal will be 24 books. Having two young kids and a full time government job makes it hard to read sometimes so I think trying to finish at least two books per month is reasonable!

I will probably stick to the 300 like last year. I ended up close to 350, but my schedule changes so I am afraid I will get behind.

Also: my profile still only shows 2016 reading challenge. Was that going to be updated to 2017 soon?

I would like to ask the people who set a goal of 50+ books a year on how they can actually achieve such a number. I am reading much less than that and having a hard time apply all the new ideas to my life. I think this year 20 or so books would be good for me. if someone has some advice please let me know

It's not a very big goal but I didn't reach it last year so I'm shooting for 50 books.

I've set my goal of 48 books to begin with, to get at least four books a month out of the way. (I usually end up upping my goal once I get into a good reading groove.) My ultimate goal, however, is to surpass 60, since that was last year's reading goal and I was one shy from reaching it. :c

I am currently looking for a great post I found about a specific reading challenge that I loved! I don't tend to read a lot of books because I don't feel like I have enough time, so I choose the books I do have time for very carefully.

Here it is!: :D

The 26-book 2017 reading challenge

A book you read in school
A book from your childhood
A book published over 100 years ago
A book published in the last year
A non-fiction book
A book written by a male author
A book written by a female author
A book by someone who isn’t a writer (think Paul Kalathani or Richard Branson)
A book that became/is becoming a film
A book published in the 20th Century
A book set in your hometown/region
A book with someone’s name in the title
A book with a number in the title
A book with a character with your first name
A book someone else recommended to you
A book with over 500 pages
A book you can finish in a day
A previously banned book
A book with a one-word title
A book translated from another language
A book that will improve a specific area of your life
A memoir or journal
A book written by someone younger than you
A book set somewhere you’ll be visiting this year
An award-winning book
A self-published book

Hi! New member, I hope I'm not too late to answering this question, I know it was posted a few days ago. I just recently changed career fields which should give me some more free time and I'm very excited to get back into reading. I used to read so many books, but lately I had fallen off the wagon. My goal (I'm' starting small) would be one book every two weeks so... 26. Possibly I'll adjust that upwards (hopefully not downwards!) as the year goes on :)

I've set my reading challenge as higher than last year as I will hopefully have more free time. However, I haven't started off particularly well and so will hopefully feel more motivated to get some more reading done soon.

I personally am aiming for 100 books. I used to be able to read so much more, but I've started working full time while doing school and I'm newly married. It's hard to find time to read these days. Last year I didn't make my goal. This year I'm gonna work hard to reach it.

To read or not to read - that is the question. I need time for other things as well.

Last year my goal was 50 but I fell short by about 15 books so I am setting my goal at 40 this year in the hopes of pushing myself to reach a more realistic goal.
