Re: 2017 Reading Challenge

Post by Sushma Manava »

I recently started reading a lot and i read over 6 books a month and last year i managed to read 37 books. This year i plan to read at least 70 books. My favorite genres are historical fiction and thriller/suspense. This year i want to explore new genres and also revisit classics. I use goodreads a lot to keep track of the books i read, rate books and also discover new books to read. :D

I will be setting my goal to 75. I try to read at least one book a week and considering I am planning a long holiday for this year I think it is completely feasible that my weekly book appetite will increase significantly. Of course that is providing that I track down new books that I like. Recently I seem to have fallen into a bit of a slump with books that I have picked receiving very good reviews but then not living up to my expectations. It can't be too hard to find another horror, mystery or pomo fiction book that will blow my socks off!

I would like to read as many books as I possible can this year! My goal is five books a week. I enjoy reading, and I don't do much of anything else. :D

5 books a week? Wow! I thought I was a fast reader, but I can only get about 2 done in a week, depending. Good luck!

I guess this is a low bar (seeing as how many people have goals up in the 100s), but I think I'll try to get at least one book a week in this year. That's 52 books.

Y'know. Just in case anyone forgot how many weeks there were in a year...

Last year my goal was 40 and I made it. This year I was going to raise it slightly to 50 and see what happens.

I read a lot....I mean a LOT.
So quantity isn't much of a concern. This year I'm going to work on quality. Most of my reading material are in the Romance genre. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that....lol, I'd like to get some other genre's in my 2017 list of book read. Maybe some non-fiction...maybe.

I'm keeping my 2017 challenge the same as 2016, mostly because I don't know where life will take me! I'm aiming to read 50 books for the year (but hopefully I'll get to more!)

I am studying full time and working part time. I was considering 1 per month of the year. So 12 should be realistic for me :) I love to enjoy my books too and do some extra research. Weirdly I like to view others person's summaries and comments about the books after I have read it.

Anchovy cat wrote:Hmmm, I actually listen to more books than I actually read. Do those count? I think I could set a reading count of 50 plus at least another 15 on audio. Anyone else listen to books?

Great question about audio books - I was wondering that myself. I've just started listening to audio books while exercising.

As for my actual goal... I'm going to go with 101 books this year. Because 100 just isn't enough :P

I have been participating in Goodreads Reading Challenges and I decided to keep this years the same as last year which was 125 books. I did meet that goal last year and surpassed it by 25 books to make the total 150.
