Anyone have any books in mind for the different challenges?
I'm hoping to get my hands on a copy of A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley for the book being adapted. The movie is called Lion.

Me too!
I just hope everyone has fun :D

I'm sure people will!

I just finished We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson. This book falls into "Read a book you first heard about on this site" for me. I never heard of this before hearing about it here (that is before Gravy  ). I'm happy it was chosen for January's BOTM because it was a wonderful read. :)

I'm currently reading Watchmen, which I intend to count as my graphic novel. I'm on chapter three! :text-woo:

Can't knock off the first one yet, but my graphic novel is done. I'm also counting it for the last goal.

Nice! I just marked off starting a new series. I finally decided to give A Series of Unfortunate Events a try. Finished the first one today, and it was really enjoyable. :)

That's on my list :D

To go with my graphic novel (for the first goal) I've also read a romance, Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh, and a YA, Escape to Eden by Rachel McClellan. I've also counted AoH as my multiple POV book.

Off to a good start!

Does anyone have any ideas for the last one?

@mmandy38
There are three books that inspired this goal, all of which I love :D
The Phantom of the Opera, The Neverending Story, and lastly Brooks Hansen's The Chess Garden.

That's awesome about being off to a great start! Good work. :tiphat:

A Series of Unfortunate Events is a very interesting series. I question some of the content for kids, but it's light and quick. I really like the Netflix adaptation of the books so far!

If you don't mind, I'd like to add some other options/challenges to your list (maybe you can use these for next year's challenge)

I plan to do most of the challenges you listed.

Some more options/challenges:
  • Read a book that will take you a day to read (this does not include short stories; it has to be a novel or series)
  • Read a book from your least favorite genre
  • Read a story that's not your traditional story (for example: a comic, manga, etc.) (I don't know how else to explain this)
  • Read a book that starts with the first letter of your name
  • Read a story where the MC has the same first letter as your name (example: if your name is Alison, you would find a story with a MC's name that has the same first letter as your name; so a story could have a MC with the name Alex)
  • Read a book by an author you've never heard of before
  • Read a book that's by the same author from the last book you read (if the author made any other books)
  • Read a book from a genre you've never read from before (example: I've never read a horror story, so I'll read a horror story)
  • Read a book that starts with the last letter of your username
  • Read a book made by a best-selling author
  • Read a book that's been published from last year
  • Read a book that's been published from this year
  • Read the first book your hand touches (you can go do this from your own book collection or at the library)
  • Go to a randomizer, enter some random books, and whichever book is picked is the one you're going to read (or just draw from a hat)
  • Read a book that's been published from the year you were born in
  • Read a book that's been published during your zodiac sign (example: If you're a gemini, find a book that's been published around May 20 - June 20)
  • Read a book from someone else's book collection
  • Read a book that has been made into a film
  • Read a book that has a rating of 2 or below from this site
  • Read a book that has a rating of 3 or more from this site
  • Read a book that has been made by a teenager (13 - 19 years old; they don't have to currently be a teen, but if an author was a teen at the time, and published a book, it counts; example: S.E. Hinton was 17 years old when she published The Outsiders)
  • Read a book from someone's bookshelf
